My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lilah — A Gentle Soul Looking for a Patient, Loving Home

Lilah is a young German Shepherd with a moderate drive and low titration, especially for her age. She appears to have experienced neglect early in life, which has shaped her timid and sensitive nature. While she has never met a dog she didn’t love, she is fearful and avoidant of people, particularly men, and prefers to keep her distance until she feels safe.

Lilah is extremely submissive and playful with other dogs and has not shown an ounce of aggression toward people or animals. She would greatly benefit from having a confident canine companion to help her continue learning that the world is a safe place.

She is very well house trained and will quietly let you know when she needs to go out—sometimes by pacing at the door, and if you’re asleep, by gently stealing your blanket to make her point. Her crate is her safe space, and she often fills it with clothing, towels, or bedding purely for comfort and scent. She has shown no destructive chewing behavior.

During her four weeks of training, the focus was on socialization. Progress has been slow but steady. Lilah is especially afraid of loud noises and may retreat to her crate or under a bed when overwhelmed. She can be hesitant with the leash and may hide, but this is fear-based—not aggression—and patience goes a long way.

Because she is still easily frightened, Lilah is considered a flight risk. A secure home, careful door management, and the use of a GPS or AirTag collar are strongly recommended.

With time, consistency, and gentle handling, Lilah has the potential to become a wonderful family dog. She is sweet, soulful, and incredibly endearing—one look into her big brown eyes makes it impossible not to root for her. And for those willing to earn her trust, pepperoni treats certainly help.
