Personality: Very sweet and loving, with lots of energy. She has mild separation anxiety and whimpers for a short period when you leave home but then settles.

Education: Fully bathroom trained and crate trained and is learning to be the best girl on a leash

Favorite Activities: Playing and going for long walks, spending time with her humans

Looking For: A loving home to provide her with exercise and take her out on long walks. Sonrisa is good with other dogs, although she can be bossy sometimes; she will be fine in a home with another dog or a cat with proper introduction, or she can be an only pet. She is great with kids, so having kids in the house would be good, too!

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.
