Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Aiko is glossy, fun and loving, one-year-old, 48-pound, female black and tan Shepherd-mix looking for a loving guardian.
Aiko loves her people, her home, her yard and her toys. Abandoned on a balcony when her human left the country. Aiko landed at Chicago Animal Care and Control and almost died of pneumonia before making her way out of the shelter.
Sadly, in her former lifer, she had limited social interactions. She was never introduced to other animals when she was a puppy, so other animals frighten her. She’s best in a home (for now) as the only pet and with a fenced in yard to play with her family.
Aiko knows the commands sit and paw, and does beautifully during training when she’s at home and calm. She gets super aroused and excited on walks causing her to bark which is not much fun for anyone.
Aiko is housebroken, easily crate-trained and well-behaved in the home. Her favorite thing in the world is playing ball which she can do non-stop!
She’s not a doggie daycare or dog park dog. She’s happiest at home with her family that loves her. Continued training will help increase her confidence and happiness. It’s going to only get better for her from here on out!
Aiko is now very healthy, spayed, and up to date on rabies, distemper, bordatella and leptospirosis vaccines. She is microchipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. Her adoption fee of $175 benefits the rescued pets of Friends of Petraits Rescue.
If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Aiko, please fill in an adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/dog-adoption-application/ and follow up by contacting friendsofpetraits@gmail.com to make an appointment to meet her.
