My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Catcher— Your Future Adventure Buddy & Snuggle Queen with a Cute Tiny Underbite!

Catcher is a young, vibrant, fun-loving girl who’s equal parts athlete and cuddle bug. She’s the kind of dog who will sprint at top speed after a squirrel... then melt into you for belly rubs five minutes later.

What Catcher likes:
Exercise and affection! She thrives with 1–2 hours of daily activity. Runs, brisk walks, soccer games, frisbee sessions, swimming in lakes, or just zooming (her zommies are legendary!) around the yard — she’s all in. Her "Good Morning" consists of melting into her human and asking for hugs and belly rubs, and she loves to get them throughout the day.

Mental challenges. She’s very smart and loves puzzle toys and scent games (especially hunting for hidden treats!).

Cardboard “projects.” Tearing up boxes is her part-time job, and she takes it seriously.

People + dogs. Extroverted and social, Catcher greets everyone with a wagging tail and leans in for affection. She plays great with dogs of her own size or larger.

Outings. She’s a polite companion at breweries, cafés, and restaurants.

What She’s Good At:
✔ Happily relaxes and sleeps in a crate
✔ Potty trained (never any accidents) and crate trained
✔ Walks nicely with a no-pull harness
✔ Super affectionate
✔ Smart and eager to engage
✔ Knows “sit” and “stop”
✔ Can entertain herself with a toy, a wooden stick, or a cozy bed - making her an amazing work-from-home companion
✔ Catching a ball, frisbee, water waves, flies, flying leaves - and she is a great "catch" herself!

What She’ll Need:
A family that has an active and consistent lifestyle, a fenced yard is a huge plus, and has time for exercise and play, and understands the needs of a young, energetic dog with a high prey drive and high chewing drive. She’s not extremely treat-motivated, but she shines with squeaky toys, enthusiastic praise, and physical affection.

If you are looking for a low-maintenance, low-energy dog or plan to crate her for long hours a day, she is not the gal, but if you’re hoping for a dog who will join you on every adventure, hiking, swimming, running and greet you like her favorite person in the world every day and watch a movie while hugging each other, Catcher is your girl.

Adoption Process

  • Fill out an adoption interest application HERE.

  • Our goal is finding lifelong, loving homes for our animals, so we try to find the best match between animal and adopter. We can help advise you on which animals to meet based on your situation.

  • You can meet some of our animals at our weekend adoption events, or we can arrange for a meeting in the foster home. If it’s a good match, the foster parent will come to visit your home in person. This is to make sure your home is safe and secure for a new companion animal.

  • Note: IAR makes every effort to please our adopters, but our first concern must be for the animal’s welfare. We reserve the right to deny any application.

More about this rescue

IAR started with one woman's big dreams, a bigger heart, and a very distinctive purple pickup truck that helped her rescue countless of unwanted, abused, and homeless Triangle pets. Originally founded in 1994, IAR earned an official 501(c)(3) status in 1995. We are governed by a Board of Directors, managed by elected officers, and introduced IAR’s first paid position, General Manager, in June 2021. This role will assist with elevating our collective compassion to new heights and strengthening IAR’s impact as a whole.

Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We shall strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We will serve our communities through promotion of spay/neuter for all companion animals, and the education of children and adults in humane care, respect and responsibility for animals on this earth.
