My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

[DogName] is a COURTESY LISTING available for private adoption -- for more information, please contact the owner listed below. DO NOT apply through the GSRA website as this dog and owner are not affiliated with GSRA. Zoey is a great dog but she is very high energy. She plays with my lab (but the lab doesnt have enough energy to play with her all day) She plays with 7 year old and she will also wrangle any chickens that escape their run. She is housebroken and crate trained she knows sit, shake and settle (as in calm down) but is also stubborn and will often lay on the couch when you tell her to go to bed because she doesn't want to go to bed She does have a problem with barking at people and cars when she is outside and you have to lock the trashcan or she will rifle through it. She wants to play all day and has more energy than I have the capacity for. My husband is a disabled veteran and she is becoming too stressful for his mental health. She needs a job or a playmate or someone who can take her for walks or play with her more often. Our biggest issue is she wants to play ALL Day!! My husband works from home and she barks when she wants outside to play but if you let her outside and dont play with her she barks because she doesnt want to be outside by herself. I want her to go to a good home where someone has more mental capacity for a high energy dog. Go meet their pets

Once approved, we encourage applicants to visit adoption events to meet potential dogs that could be a match.
Before you fill out the application:
1). We do not adopt to individuals living outside of North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia.
2). If the only dog you are interested in has a (CL) after their name, this is a courtesy listing and we do not handle the adoptions of courtesy listings, please contact the person directly.

More about this rescue

Thank you for considering adopting a GSRA dog. We love that you are exploring rescuing a GSD. We firmly believe that the adoption of a dog is not one to be taken lightly. Because of this belief, our adoption process is what some would described as lengthy and can be emotional. If you are looking to take a dog home "tomorrow", unfortunately our organization is not for you.
