My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ringo! Your Next Adventure Buddy

Fostered in Murfreesboro TN

Get ready to fall in love! Ringo is a young, energetic, friendly Australian Shepherd mix; he’s about 1+ years old and a sleek 38 lbs. He’s fostered in Murfreesboro, TN and ready to make every day an adventure with you!

Ringo’s star qualities:

  •  Social Butterfly: Ringo lives to make friends! He's a rockstar at every store he visits—happily greeting every person and dog he meets. He has thrived in his foster home and is incredibly close with his dog brother.

  •  Devoted: You are Ringo's favorite person! He thinks his humans "hung the moon" and is pure joy to be around. Get ready to melt every time his beautiful golden eyes look up at you.

  •  The Ultimate Co-Pilot: Whether it's a cross-town trip or a quick run to the store, Ringo wants to be by your side. He's always ready to happily go with you on any and all adventures.

  •  Friendly: Ringo does exceptionally well with children, adults and dogs.

  •  Crate trained: While Ringo can be crated when left at home, this is not his favorite place. He prefers to be out and is a good boy as long as he has his foster brother as a buddy.

  •  Recall: Give a shout and Ringo will come running!

Ringo's training needs:

  •  Mouthing: Ringo is young and explores the world with his mouth. While he stops when told, he can get a bit “mouthy” during play (this can include your fingers, toes, arms etc, you get the idea). He never bites, however this chomping does need to be considered if children are in the mix. If your kids are dog-savvy we don’t see any issues.

  •  Jumping: Ringo gets very excited! We are currently working on curbing his habit of jumping up to greet people. Continued, consistent training will be essential for his success.

  •  Stealing: Ringo is a Certified SCS (Strategic Counter Surfer)! No food items are safe if he’s at home alone or he’s left in the room too long without supervision.

  •  Hunting: Ringo has a strong herding instinct when it comes to fowl (current score: Ringo 3, Chickens 0). A home without chickens is required!

  •

Ringo’s ideal home:

  • • Ringo would make a phenomenal family dog! He is trusted in every environment.

  • • Ringo lived on a farm for a little bit and thrived! Farms would be great to give him room to run, just make sure chickens are protected or non-existent.

  • • Must have an active lifestyle, this boy is go-go-go!

  • • Must have a canine buddy, this guy needs a constant and energetic friend (chase is his favorite game).

More about this rescue

Nancy Pearlman-Gonzalez, Founder and CEO, created Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF), a non-profit organization to promote the education, rescue, fostering and adoption of the Australian Shepherd breed of dog.
In July 2012, Australian Shepherds Furever (ASF) initiated as a page on Facebook. Hoping to have 1,000 members at the end one year, ASF quickly grew into a network of more than 58,000 dedicated individuals striving to provide aid and refuge to Aussies all over the country.
From these phenomena, the website www.australianshepherdsfurever.org was developed to educate the public on this intelligent and beautiful breed, and provide resources to those seeking help or willing to contribute to the Adopt, Save and Foster (ASF) philosophy. ASF filed for non- profit status in July 2013 and obtained its status in July 2014 and through proactive networking, partnerships, training/rehabilitation and fundraising, ASF has saved the lives of countless dogs to include those with Parvo, Mange, Tick Disease, Cancer, Pneumonia, broken limbs and some of the most extreme cases of abuse that one could imagine. ASF focuses on the Aussies that most would turn their backs on. ASF is in its 5th year and over 1,910 Australian Shepherds have been rescued from high kills shelters, abusive owners and other high-risk situations.
We, as humans, have a responsibility to uphold, shelter and care for those beings that are less fortunate, that are simply cast away. Thanks to proactive individuals who work collectively, Aussies nationwide are being given a chance at a better life through Australian Shepherds Volunteers are an integral component of ASF for the maintenance of the website, screening potential fosters and adopters, providing training, fundraising, data base management, networking and transporting of recued Aussies. All Volunteers; Adopters, Fosters, Trainers and Transporters etc. are carefully screened and vetted to assure the safe and vital placement of these dogs into furever homes. We currently have over 170 foster families and over 160 dogs in foster care nationwide. We have professional trainers to work with our dogs with severe behavioral issues. We also have a team of Rescue Coordinators, Medical Advisors, Fundraisers, Regional Reps, Application Processors, Data Base Managers, Social Media Managers, Microchip and ID tag Registrars and Ground and Air Transport Coordinators that work together to save these beautiful dogs.
Furever (ASF).
