My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Iris (A563573), the undercover goofball who pretends she’s the most serious dog on earth while secretly plotting her next zoomie attack. Her face may say CEO of Professional Behavior, but the moment she steps into the yard she’s running circles around you like she’s trying to cross you up in a basketball game. She play bows, she jukes, she sprints, then she suddenly gets shy about it like she can’t believe you witnessed her being that silly.

Iris walks nicely on leash, loves toys, knows how to sit, and seems to be house trained which is always a win. She has tested well with male dogs and is a little nervous at first, but give her a few minutes and the walls come down. Soon she’s trotting around with her doggy friend like she’s been playful her whole life. She has that stoic, wise looking face but trust us, behind that mildly dramatic expression is a sweetheart who just wants someone who will let her be goofy, brave, and loved.

If you’re looking for a dog who will keep you laughing while also giving you the softest, most gentle companionship, Iris is more than ready to meet you. She’s a gem waiting on her person.

Iris is guesstimated to be 2 years old and weighs 40 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative.

Ready to meet Iris? All you have to do is stop by our shelter at 4950 Triana Blvd and head to our dog areas. You can find her in kennel D25. All adopters must be 19 years or older with a valid ID

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting an animal: 1) Write down the Animal ID # . 2) Make sure to mention Animal ID # when visiting or calling. 3) Remember all adoptions stop 30 minutes prior to closing time. 3) You will not be allowed to place a hold on the animal. 4) It cannot be shipped to you. 5) Before adopting it, you can spend time with the animal outside or in a "meet and greet" room. Please ask for assistance. 6) We take cash, checks, debit cards, VISA and Mastercard as a method of payment. **IMPORTANT: Huntsville Animal Services cannot guarantee that any animal will still be available for adoption as we do not hold animals for anyone under any circumstances. Animals are adopted on a first come, first serve basis. You may want to call and ask if one is still available prior to visiting the shelter. When you adopt a pet, it will stay at the shelter and be taken to the veterinarian of your choice where it will be spayed or neutered before going to its new home. If it is already spayed or neutered, it can go home with you upon adoption. My adoption cost is very affordable and includes my adoption fee, spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming, license (if you live within Huntsville city limits), and microchip.
ADOPTION FEES
Cats seven months and older are currently $35 that includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, feline AIDS/LEUKEMIA test, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. Kittens six months and younger are $50.

Dogs seven months and older are currently $35 and includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies vaccination, microchip, city license tag if applicable, canine heart worm test over six months of age, and may also include other basic vaccinations when applicable. Puppie six months and younger are $50. Prices are subject to change.

LICENSE FEES
$35 - Lifetime license not included in the adoption fee

Fees change if the animal comes into the shelter with proof of current rabies vaccination, current city license, and/or proof of spay/neuter. If the animal has been spayed or neutered there is no spay/neuter fee.
Adopting parties must have proof of identification. They must be 19 years of age or older. They must not be intoxicated. The adoption process takes approximately 30 minutes for the paperwork. Please allow ample time to look for the pet of your dreams, visit with it, and do all appropriate paperwork. We do not suggest adoptions for a gift. If you desire to give the gift of a new pet, bring that person with you and allow them to pick out their new family member.
