Meet Quigley, a handsome 73-pound, six-year-old black & tan male ready to find a new home. We have to rehome him due to a change in our living situation.
Quigley has a medium energy level and loves getting his exercise through a good walk or playing fetch with his absolute favorite toy: a ball. He will happily play with a ball until he runs out of steam. This clever boy even has a cute, unique habit of lying on his back, holding the ball above his face with his front paws, and dropping it into his own mouth!
He is fully potty trained and does well in his large built-in kennel, where he sleeps soundly at night. He walks well on a leash and has a great foundation of obedience training. Quigley reliably responds to "sit," "down," and practices polite patience by waiting at the door until told he is "free" to go through. His "stay" command is a work in progress and needs occasional reinforcement.
Quigley has met kids and does well with them. He currently lives with a cat and is non-reactive toward people, bikes, or scooters when out and about. He has successfully socialized with a known dog (his foster's daughter's dog), but potential adopters should note that interactions with unfamiliar dogs are a work in progress and he remains very attentive to them on walks.

More about this rescue
Founded in 2005, we are a volunteer home-based rescue group run by dedicated volunteers. Our dogs live in volunteer homes as family members with the same love, care and attention they would receive in an adoptive home.
We provide training, socialization, vet care and evaluation for all of the dogs in our care. All of our dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
GSDRI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization licensed by the state of Iowa.
