Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application
Please do not call the shelter; do the application first.
With one striking blue eye and one warm brown eye, Osa is as unique on the outside as she is in personality. She likely carries some Australian Shepherd or Husky traits along with her reported Rhodesian Ridgeback background—whatever her mix, she is 100% sweetheart.
Osa is the sister of Ollie and Bennie, who were both adopted through Forget Me Not earlier this summer. While her previous owner kept her at the time, circumstances took a difficult turn, and Osa was recently brought to us by the sheriff after being found abandoned in an empty apartment. Now, this resilient girl is more than ready to start fresh with a loving family that will truly be hers forever.
Born around 1/1/25, Osa is a happy, expressive dog who seems to always be smiling. She weighs just under 60 pounds, gets along well with other dogs, and was polite when meeting our dog-savvy test cat—so with proper, patient introductions, she may do well with a confident feline friend.
Osa is housetrained, though she occasionally exhibits submissive urination during greetings or moments of uncertainty. A calm, supportive home with positive interactions will help her build confidence and grow past this behavior.
Right now, human connection is Osa’s top priority. After her experience with abandonment, she gravitates toward people and wants to stay close to them, choosing affection over toys every time. We’re confident she’ll learn to enjoy play in time—she simply needs the security of a loving presence first.
She’s already quite good on leash and is starting to understand “sit.” She does sometimes jump up for attention, so she’ll be a better fit for homes with older children who won’t be toppled like Weebles by her enthusiastic affection.
Osa is a loving, sensitive girl who has weathered hardship and still greets the world with a smile. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who just wants to bond deeply with her person, Osa may be the perfect addition to your family.
All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Osa is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.
Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

Our minimum adoption donations are indicated on each pet's listing.
The first step toward adoption is to fill out the application, which we can email to you or you can find on our website:
http://forgetmenotshelter.org/Application
Filling out the application in no way commits you to adopting - it simply enables us to get you preapproved, in case you decide you want to adopt. If you are then approved and offered a pet placement, you may always refuse the placement. If you accept a placement, we always give you three days (for puppies and kittens) or thirty days (for adult dogs and cats) to live with each other; if during that time you decide that your new pet simply won't work out, for any reason, we will accept the pet back with a full refund of your adoption donation. You could either return the pet directly to us, or have it picked up on our next transport! I must say, we are very proud of our successful placement record - we really work hard to make sure you and your pet will be a great match.
If you are out of our immediate area, we ask that you email some photos of your home, yard (including fence if you have one), any "animal-specific" areas (such as a dog run, cat tree, or sleeping area) and any other pets you currently own. Sometimes photos enable us to skip the pre-adoption home visit, which can speed things up considerably for out of area adoptions! For the vet reference, either a vet who is seeing your current pets, or a vet who saw a former pet, is acceptable. If this is your first pet ever, congratulations on joining the pet world! :-D We will consider your application without a vet reference, but we would like to know what vet you think you will use for your pet. Without a vet reference, please be sure to provide at least two strong personal references who would know how you are with animals.
If we have an upcoming transport scheduled to your area, we will make every effort to process and approve your application in time for the transport.
