My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gorgeous siamese cat Violet was found in Red Hook all alone. She was dirty and smelly and so ready to be rescued!

Once in foster care she started off extremely shy so we recommend she be adopted by a family that will be patient with that. As the days go by she will become more and more friendly and comfortable! She loves to purr and get belly rubs! She is beautiful and sweet and does seem interested in other cats!!

More about this rescue

Inspired by the parable of the starfish, Big Apple Cats is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats in need, one life at a time. Our focus is on the quality of rescue, and truly 'making a difference to that one'. Our mission is to find compassionate and caring adopters so that every cat receives the love, care, and second chance they deserve.

We strive to educate the public about responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering, while advocating for the voiceless and underserved cats in our neighborhoods. We aim to make a difference—one cat at a time—and to inspire others in our community to start saving 'starfish' of their own.
