HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.
---
- Very friendly with all people and easily makes friends with his laid back demeanor
- Super smart and great at following directions; foster family says he knows some and sit, and even knows what "this way" means on walks
- Walks nicely on a leash
- Tends to ignore toys, treats and bones inside, but loves all of them outside; may do best with more durable toys
- LOVES to play outside, especially fetch; enjoys when his people chase him around the yard
- Likes finding and carrying around sticks
- More motivated by toys than by treats
- When indoors, happy to chill on his bed or couch
- Likes scratches around his "mane" and back
- Foster family says he has done well when left home alone and hasn't barked much while they're away
- Appears to be potty trained and has not had any accidents in his foster home, just remember any dog may need time to adjust to a new routine
- Has done well in interactions with other dogs, but doesn't seem quite sure how to play with them
- Young, noisy or busy children may be too much for him (mature home recommended)
All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)
The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
