My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rehoming Our Beloved Belgian Shepherd - Henri (Dallas, TX) This is incredibly difficult for us, but we need to find a new home for our dog, Henri. He’s a 2.5-year-old neutered male who we’ve had genetically tested as 100% Belgian Shepherd. At 90 lbs, he’s a big, loveable ball of energy who thrives on belly rubs, playtime, and affection. Personality and Temperament: Henri is loyal, playful, and full of life. He loves chasing toys, romping with other dogs, and soaking up attention. He’s great with medium to large dogs—he plays well with our other dogs at home and enjoys daycare outings. We’re unsure about small dogs since he hasn’t been exposed to them. He’s never been around children, so a child-free home would be ideal. With people, Henri can be a bit selective at first. He warms up quickly but may act tough or bark at strangers (especially some men) until he gets comfortable. Deep down, he’s a total softie who just needs time to build trust. Needs and Lifestyle Fit: Henri is energetic and a bit reactive on leash, so he’d thrive with an active owner who enjoys daily walks, runs, hikes, or other adventures. Some additional training could help manage his reactivity and channel his energy positively. He’s up to date on all vaccines, including rabies, and is otherwise healthy. We want to be fully transparent: Henri once bit a worker who entered our backyard unannounced. He was protecting his family. This highlights his protective instincts, but it also means he needs a secure environment and an experienced handler who understands shepherd breeds. What We’re Looking For: We’re heartbroken to rehome him and only want what’s best: a loving, attentive home where he’ll get the exercise, structure, and affection he deserves. Amidst all this, Mom has returned to work after several years of being a stay-at-home mom. (also moving into a smaller home.) Henri deserves the world! 🐕❤ï¸Â * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Henri, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
