My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Dexstar was brought in by their previous owner on 11/9/2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Dexstar is a gentle girl looking for a calm, predictable home. She would do best in a quieter household without frequent visitors, where she can feel secure and settle in at her own pace. Dexstar came into our care with her dog buddy, Copper (AID 856235), and their companionship has offered her comfort during this transition.
She's an active pup who enjoys staying busy and would benefit from regular physical exercise and engaging mental enrichment. With patience, structure, and thoughtful guidance, Dexstar has the potential to grow more confident and thrive in a loving home.

At SDHS:
Dexstar has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Dexstar is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
