Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Duke,
Duke is a one-year-old spaniel havanese mix. He was rescued from a hoarding situation with 15 other dogs, which resulted in very little socialization for the first 8 months of his life. All of the puppies were infested with fleas and covered in feces. Duke was found to have a severe double ear infection but is now a very healthy boy. He has been fully vetted, so he is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative), microchip, flea/tick prevention and wellness exam.
Duke needs an adopter that will be patient with him as he learns to be a normal puppy. He would benefit from a consistent pack leader with prior dog experience to blossom into his full potential. Since he can sometimes be mouthy, Duke is not eligible for adoption to a household with small children. Duke is fearful in new environments but after he gets comfortable, he is very loving with an adorable personality. He likes to be in the same area with his people and especially cuddle and be held. While adjusting to his foster home, Duke has shown a strong “stranger danger” instinct and often barks/growls to alert. Regardless, he has shown improvement with exposure to new people and will continue to do so with additional training.
Duke walks well on a leash, sleeps in a kennel or bed and loves playing with toys. He is dog friendly and enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home. In fact, a well-socialized dog in the home could be very helpful with his training. He is nearly fully potty trained. Duke is a beautiful russet color with soulful eyes, and according to his foster has the best sploot!
Note:
We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that are a good fit for the dog.
