My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

My name is Duke and I’m definitely royalty! The elderly gentleman who adopted me as an 8-
week old puppy had to undergo emergency surgery and lost his leg to diabetes, leaving him
unable to properly care for me. I was only 10 months old at the time. I am now a 1-year old
strapping young pup who has known only love and playtime my whole life. I have boundless
energy and am up for whatever game you have in mind.. tug, fetch, long walks, you name it! I
need a securely fenced yard as I know no boundaries (having been raised on 25 acres and love
to chase the wildlife, i.e., critters, deer, nothing is off limits)! I have shared my home with cats
and will even play with cats! I have not been introduced (other than thru my kennel;) to my
Forster Mom’s dog as he is a special needs dog with delicate hips. Although I display “normal”
fencing behavior in my kennel, it appears that I will be ok with another dog given slow, proper
introduction. The best fit would be a dog that can keep up with my high-energy personality!
That said, I CANNOT be crated. I am strong and have destroyed a large crate from the inside
out. I do well in a large welded wire kennel (minimum size 6 x 8 x 4, pictured). My Foster Mom
keeps me safe in a 10 x 8 x 6 kennel which I cannot topple and am safe in when she is away.
As my prior home offered me limited opportunity to meet new people, I am wary of strangers
and need slow, proper introductions. Once I know you, you are my friend! I bond easily with
my “person” and will guard that person and my home. An experienced owner is preferred. I am
NOT a couch potato - and given the opportunity, I will probably eat your couch!
If you’re looking for a constant companion to start every day will a smile, woof and wag - I’m
your guy!

**********************************************************************************

We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. If you are interested in a particular pet, we suggest you email: mmarpaws@gmail.com to see if that pet will be there.

Applications are approved on the basis of the best and most appropriate home for the animal, not on a first come, first served basis. On site adoption available to pre-approved applicants only.

Adoption fees go towards vaccines, heartworm prevention/testing, flea/tick prevention, spay/neuter and other medical problems that may arise.

MMAR is an all volunteer, foster based, 501 (c) 3, non profit organization. Without your donation, wonderful pets like these have to be passed by because we cannot afford their care.

More about this rescue

Making Miracles Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats from shelters across Michigan. Based in Utica, Michigan, we operate as a no-kill, foster-based rescue. Although we don’t have a physical facility, we rely on compassionate foster families who open their homes to pets in need until they find their forever homes.

Our primary mission is to save as many dogs and cats as possible, regardless of breed or age. We firmly believe that senior pets deserve just as much love and care as puppies and kittens—and we’re passionate about finding loving homes for them all.

We’re also committed to promoting responsible pet ownership by encouraging spaying and neutering to prevent unwanted litters and reduce the number of animals in need of rescue.
