Background
Popi was rescued this fall from a cow farm. He had been kept there as a guard dog, chained with very little food or care. The short chain made every day hard for him. Even so, whenever he saw our volunteer walk by, his tail would start wagging.
We tried for a long time to convince the owner to surrender him. Finally the owner agreed and we were able to bring Popi to our partner boarding house, where he now lives with other dogs.

Personality and Socialization
Popi has been loving and gentle from the very start. Even at the farm he showed nothing but kindness, greeting every person with a wagging tail. He was never suited to be a guard dog because he would happily greet anyone who passed by.
He enjoys the company of other dogs and does well with them. He simply prefers dogs who are gentle and friednly. If a dog is overly loud, pushy or too energetic, he quietly walks away. Popi is affectionate, friendly and steady in his temperament.

Behaviours
Popi has been wonderful in every setting. He is polite, smart and eager to please. He does well in the car, during bath time and at the vet. He enjoys walks, though he may pull a little when he gets excited. He does not like being locked in a cage, but aside from that he has shown no separation anxiety and has been consistently well behaved.

Health and Diet
Popi is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He has been dewormed and receives monthly parasite prevention. He eats dry food twice a day and has shown no signs of allergies.

Ideal Home
Popi has a sweet and balanced personality with a medium energy level. He would be a wonderful match for many families, whether it is a first time dog parent or a home with another gentle dog. His ideal home is one where someone works from home or is retired so he does not have to be alone for long hours. He loves people and thrives on companionship. Popi is smart, loyal and easy to love. Whoever adopts him will be very lucky to have him.
