Meet Darcy, the sweetest, most petite little rescue girl with a heart full of hope. 💕
Darcy came to us very underweight, but you’d never know it from her spirit—this girl is precious in every way. And now? She’s making up for lost time with her absolute favorite thing in the world: FOOD.
Because she was hungry for so long, Darcy gets very excited around meals and hasn’t quite learned to take treats gently or share just yet—but none of that is her fault. With time, consistency, and the security of always having enough, she’ll learn she never has to worry about food again.
As Darcy gains weight, she’s also gaining confidence. Every day at the lifesaving center, she blossoms a little more, showing us just how loving and gentle she wants to be. She’s a cuddle-ready, heart-melting sweetheart who just needs someone to believe in her.
Darcy deserves nothing less than the best—soft beds, patient guidance, and a forever home filled with love and care.

A New Leash on Life has a goal of saving all the adoptable pets about to die in the municipal shelters of Alabama until we become a NO KILL state. We rescue, provide veterinary care, provide a foster home or adoption center spot, and find adopters who are good matches for homeless dogs and cats...AND horses, pigs, rabbits, and any other animal who needs our help. All animals are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, testing (HW for dogs, FIV/Felv for cats), and whatever else they need before adoption.
