Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET "BANDIT" TEXAS, HOUSTON

LOCATION: HOUSTON TEXAS

CONTACT: BigPawsK9FosterHouse@gmail.com

Meet BANDIT – A True Gentleman with a Heart as Big as Texas!
Breed: Great Pyrenees
Age: Estimated 5 yrs old
Neutered Male
Up to date on vaccinations and preventatives
Heartworm positive – thriving on slow-kill treatment

Bandit’s story began on the streets of Houston, where he was found dodging traffic just days before the January snowstorm. He was in rough shape, suffering from a serious infection—but this resilient guy has made an incredible recovery and is now thriving in his foster home.

True to his breed, Bandit is a calm, gentle soul with a sweet and affectionate nature. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and even cats, and he’s always up for an adventure—whether it’s a stroll through town or a car ride with his foster mom.

Bandit is neutered, fully vetted, and receiving monthly preventatives. While he is heartworm positive, he’s doing exceptionally well on our slow-kill protocol and is on the path to full recovery.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who’s already come a long way and is ready to live the good life, Bandit might just be your perfect match.

More about this rescue

Our mission at Big Paws K9 Foster House is to establish a secure and nurturing haven for Anatolian Shepherds, Kangal, Great Pyrenees, Akbash and their mixes rescued from shelters, the streets, or unfortunate circumstances. Our dedicated team ensures a transitional environment either at the facility or within a foster home for these dogs until suitable forever homes can be identified for adoption. Throughout their stay with us, we prioritize the well-being of the dogs by affording them dedicated decompression time, compassionate care, and expert guidance. Our commitment extends to active engagement through structured work/play sessions, allowing us to comprehensively evaluate each dog's unique characteristics.
This thorough evaluation process enables us to provide detailed insights to our fosters, adopters, and our partnering rescue organizations. By offering a nuanced understanding of each dog's temperament, behavior, and needs, we aim to facilitate informed decision-making in placing these dogs into loving and appropriate homes.
Committed to education, we also promote spaying/neutering and work to make affordable vetting accessible within our community, championing responsible pet ownership for all.
