Gemma survived what most puppies never walk away from. She and her siblings were found in the middle of a rural Texas road, weaving through traffic, exhausted, soaked, and terrified while cars whipped past them. Their foster had to stop her vehicle in the road to scoop them up because they were seconds away from being hit. Based on the scene, it’s likely these four weren’t the only ones left there. Gemma has already lived through more than any five month old pup should.

And somehow, she turned into the gentlest little soul.

Gemma is the classic middle child. She loves to play and explore, but she isn’t pushy or confrontational. She makes friends easily and prefers harmony over chaos. Her absolute favorite thing is curling up into your chest like she was always meant to be there. This girl is a world-class snuggler.

She sleeps in her crate each night without protest, settles beautifully, and is thriving with routine. Her leash skills are improving every day thanks to her foster’s consistency and patience. She’s the kind of puppy who wants to get it right. She’ll thrive in a home that continues the structure she’s already learning.

Gemma is roughly 30 pounds and five months old. Soft-hearted, steady, and endlessly sweet. If you’re looking for a dog who wants to be genuinely connected to her person, she’s your girl.

This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)

Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.

Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.
