Arrival story: Was relinquished by owner who loved him dearly. Was unable to keep due to medical issues.

Approximate age / Weight: About 7 yrs old / 30 lbs.

Personality: Your future fox-like sidekick with a PhD in Shiba-ology.
If you know Shibas, you already get it. If you don’t… well, buckle up for a masterclass in independence, intelligence, and “I’ll cuddle you when I feel like it, human.”

Jake is a 7-year-old Shiba Inu gentleman who’s smart, spirited, and believes life is best lived with equal parts adventure and personal space. He’ll absolutely come in for affection — on his schedule — and when he does, it’s worth every second.

His hobbies include:
-Tossing toys around like a professional athlete
-Going on walks (the longer, the better)
-Collecting treats and convincing you he definitely deserves another
-Outwitting humans… in the most charming way possible

House manners? Impeccable.
Jake is 100% housetrained, has perfect home-alone etiquette, and hasn’t destroyed a single thing. No crate needed — he’s a trustworthy dude.

He rocks that classic Shiba double coat, which means he’s extra fluffy and also… extra sheddy. Consider it a lifestyle, not a flaw.

Generally chill and quiet — unless someone approaches his castle. Then you’ll get a polite (but confident) “Alert! A peasant approaches!” bark.

Jake loves a good romp in the yard and playing fetch, but a fence is not required if he can get physical activity in other ways.

New Home: Jake is the perfect partner for someone who loves to walk, hike, throw a ball, and appreciate a dog who’s equal parts loyal companion and independent thinker.

If you’re Shiba-savvy — or Shiba-ready — Jake just might be your perfect match.

More about this rescue

Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit rescue organization. Our dedicated volunteers rescue, rehabilitate, foster, and re-home all breeds of homeless dogs from area shelters or as owner-surrenders. Waggin' Tails is supported solely through donations and fund-raising efforts. Our volunteers receive no monetary payment for their activities. Instead, their reward is the knowledge that a dog's life has been saved that otherwise would have been lost.
