My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Goose has recently been returned due to no fault of his own.
Unfortunately, he has returned with a couple more pounds then we would like to see. Now being 20ish pounds overweight, his new adopter should be aware that, for his health, he NEEDS exercise and a measured diet! Below is what his bio was the last time he was with us.

I am a 3 year old, Male, PitBull.
Goose!!
Who doesn't just loooove a Goose ?

"And he has the cutest freckles."
Goose  always seems to follow cute and boy is this guy CUTE...
HANDSOME...
CHARMING...
FUNNY..
Lighthearted...
Carefree...
Fun loving...
SWEET ...(don't forget Sweet!!)
What's that? you love a big blockhead...
Well come on down to HSWC Goose factory and get your own custom Goose.
This guy is amazing. You may have to get in line behind the Animal Control officer who has fallen for him, but he is worth the wait.
You can't help but smile when you're with him.
He will be stuck in your head when you leave.
Counting down the days hours minutes until you can frolic again with Goose.
What the heck? You can't live without him!!
That's what we thought.. another Goose Fan.
Join club Goose and your days will be Fun Filled Forever.
No need to be fancy he doesn't need no fluff.
He just wants ears scratches and belly rubs and he's all good.
He loves his walks.
And hugs.
Goose loves car rides and adventures with Mr Animal Control man. He feels special when he rides shotgun on patrol.
You are signing up for a great companion who will offer to drive with you on errands.
He pulls his own weight, he's no free loader.
For now, he waits for you....
But when finally you come he will be full on for love
and finally found his forever Goose Family.
He's nothing short of Fantastic!!
🟢no dog reactivity. Meet and greets required for forever friends.
🟢passed cats tests.
🟢Loves people!! (ok with kids that he lives with but seemed hesitant of new small children visiting)
58 pounds of friendly, fun-filled, freckle-faced, fur baby!!
Primary Color: Tan
Secondary Color: White

A "meet and greet" is required with all family members and the pet prior to finalizing the adoption application. If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. We verify all information on the adoption application and may deny an application with any false information on it. A follow up call or visit is done on all adoptions within first 30 days of adoption.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
