My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dutchess!

This girl has had quite a journey and is now ready for her next adventure. Dutchess was adopted out from us a few years ago and was recently found running loose in Illinois with her brother Tucker. They have made their way back to us and have been medically cleared for adoption.

Dutchess is energetic and full of life, she would love an active home where she has lots to do. Dutchess is very strong on a leash and will need an experienced owner to handle her pulling. She does well with most other dogs but should not be in a home with small animals so as to not overwhelm them.

Dutchess is at our main ranch location!

More about this shelter

Our shelter had it's beginnings in the mid 90's and formally became a nonprofit organization in 2001. The dream of Lee and Sophia DiClemente has grown to be the largest no-kill animal shelter in New Mexico. Lee passed in 2010, but Sophia carries on with the support of a small staff, a large number of volunteers, and numerous donors - large and small.
