My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zuri is a 9-month-old hound mix with a gentle heart, a playful spirit, and a love for snuggling that makes her an instant favorite. She enjoys curling up beside her people, playing with her toys, and spending time with her foster dog siblings. Zuri is bright, eager to learn, and picks up new routines quickly. She has made great progress with potty training and walks beautifully on a leash. Zuri does have a rare condition called diabetes insipidus, which affects her ability to regulate hydration. The good news is that it is well managed with daily medication, and she continues to thrive in her foster home. Her care is straightforward, and we are happy to guide her future family through everything they need to know. Despite her diagnosis, Zuri lives a happy, active, and affectionate life. She is playful, loving, and ready to be someones devoted companion. She will do wonderfully in a home that can offer consistency, patience, and lots of love. Zuri is waiting to meet the family who will give her the stable, caring home she deserves. If youre looking for a sweet, smart, and cuddly companion, Zuri may be the perfect match. For more updates, photos, and videos of Zuri, visit our Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/littlebigdogrescueVA Adoption fees are $250 unless otherwise stated. Senior dog adoption fees are $200. 100% of adoption fees are put back into the rescue so that another lonely and neglected dog can be rescued. We are grateful for your interest. Upon approval, the adoption fee is non-refundable. The fee includes the following: de-worming; heartworm, lymes, ehrlichia and anaplasmosis testing; all vaccinations including rabies; flea and tick treatment, microchipping and spay/neuter. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require an adoption application; we check all references; and upon adoption, we require the adopter to sign an adoption contract which says, among other things, that if the adoption doesn't work out, the dog must come back to Little Big Dog Rescue.

More about this rescue

Little Big Dog Rescue is the little rescue with the big heart.
We are a 501c3 non-profit rescue that is committed to improve and save the lives of dogs through:

Rescue, Rehabilitation, Training, Adoption and Community Education

In January 2025, the rescue underwent a transition, redefining its mission to a different focus and locality. Little Big Dog Rescue relocated to the New River Valley in Christiansburg, Virginia and expanded from predominately a senior dog rescue to helping dogs of all ages in need as our resources allow.

LBDR aims to pull from local kill shelters and assist owner surrenders as space allows in our foster homes. Each dog will be vetted to include spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping, deworming, etc. and then spend quality time in a foster home so we may learn more about each dog's personality and needs for their future "furever" home success. We are committed to providing medical rehabilitation as well as some behavioral training whenever possible to further improve the quality of life each dog may have after being adopted. Additionally, LBDR hopes to give back to the community by offering education on various aspects of the privilege of dog ownership, including proper medical care, training needs, breed-specific needs, and so much more.
