My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Layla was brought in by their previous owner on 11/13/2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Layla is a sweet and friendly dog who loves attention and gentle pets. She has a history of doing well with kids in her previous home and enjoys being around her favorite people. Layla can be a bit reactive toward larger dogs, so she would benefit from a home that can help her feel secure and continue positive training. Providing slow, controlled introductions, maintaining distance from big dogs on walks, and using reward-based training can support her success. Layla is ready to bring love, companionship, and lots of tail wags to her new family!

At SDHS:
Layla has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Layla is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
