"Well I'm in the play yard now. Hanging with the swings of HSWC players."
"Well, We need to run your lines and get your bio ready. " "What's a bio?" "It's like a play bill. Gives your background to people who come to your play!"
"Is one of them going to 'dopt me? "
"Maybe if we get your bio just right! "
"Ok well.... I'm a chill kid. I love my volunteer stand-ins. I love going walkie And snacks. I super love cats- Maybe too much love for the cats. I be better in a cat free home. I'm pretty easy walk. I'm also pretty skinny. Like skinny jeans 0 big on me. 38 pounds. I haven't had much good care until now. They say I missed some heart worm monthly medicine so now I need some juice. But I'll be ok. I have a watchchmacallit spirit- Rezillint. That's it. Ok, spelling may not be my thing. But I'm super loving and gentle and sweet. That's my thing. If you like those things- You will love to meet me. Dont delay I shan't wait. I've got loves to give, Lives to save, Friends to make! I'll be your compact sidekick, pocket companion and bff. Give me a chance! I'll do my happy prance. Right by your side. That's where I'll reside. If affection you need, Right there I'll be ! I've got romance right in my name. To pass on me- what a shame!

Adoption fee includes basic vaccinations, worming, flea treatment, feline-leukemia/FIV test, heartworm test, spay/neuter (done prior to leaving), rabies vaccination and a microchip
There is a contract and all potential adopters meet with adoption counselor to talk about application and make sure pet is good fit with the person and family. A "meet and greet" is required with all family members and the pet prior to finalizing the adoption application. If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. All animals in the home must be up to date on vaccinations prior to new pet going home. We do not adopt to people who will keep the pet outside exclusively. We may do a home visit either pre or post-adoption. Animals adopted from us are not be sold or given to another person. We verify all information on the adoption application and may deny an application with any false information on it. More about this shelter
The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
