My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾🐾 Meet Cashew (a.k.a. "Cashy")! 🐾🐾

Cashew—affectionately goes by "Cash" or "Cashy" — is a sweet and loving Labrador mix weighing in at about 40–45 lbs. He was born safely into rescue after his mom was found wandering the streets, and he’s one of twelve lucky puppies who all got a fresh start in life!

Cash is a velcro pup—he’ll happily follow his person everywhere and loves nothing more than to cuddle up close. He’s also a smart cookie who has had professional training and already knows sit, shake, down, and place. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and walks on a leash (he may pull a little at first but then settles into a nice pace).

Cash loves the company of other dogs and has adjusted beautifully to his foster home with four doggie siblings. He also does great with cats and enjoys gentle playtime with his furry friends. Cash loves to play chase and be chased with his friends, and never misses an opportunity to show off his speed.

Because Cash missed out on early socialization, he is still learning that the big, wide world isn’t so scary. Sudden noises, strangers, and new environments make him a little cautious—but with patience, love, and a little confidence-building, he’s already showing great progress! His foster family has seen this transformation before with his brother, who started out shy but blossomed into a happy, confident companion. Cash is on the same path and will thrive in a patient, understanding home that will celebrate every little victory with him.

If you’re looking for a cuddly, loyal, and intelligent best friend, Cashew is your guy! With a little patience and a lot of love, he’s sure to become the most wonderful addition to your family. xoxoAARF Houston transports to approved adopters outside of Texas.
