Meet Leo
2–3 years old | 13 lbs | Arriving in Morristown, NJ on December 28th
Leo is a gentle soul looking for a fresh start. He was rescued by The Sato Project from a heartbreaking hoarding situation in Manatí, Puerto Rico, where he lived in a home with over 30 other dogs. Life in those conditions was hard, but Leo is finally safe — and ready for a new chapter.
Now healthy and healing emotionally, Leo is preparing to fly to Morristown, NJ, where he hopes to meet a family that will offer him the love, patience, and safety he’s never truly known.
Because of his background, Leo may be shy or unsure at first, but with time and compassion, he has the potential to become a devoted and loving companion. He would do best in a calm, understanding home where he can go at his own pace and learn what it means to be truly cared for.
Leo is ready to leave his past behind — and he's hoping to do it with you.

The Sato Project is dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned dogs from Puerto Rico. There are currently an estimated 500,000 stray dogs roaming the island’s streets and beaches. With no access to food, fresh water, or veterinary care, many of these dogs are living daily lives of severe suffering. The municipal shelter system is drastically overwhelmed, with only five shelters across all 78 of the island’s municipalities. These shelters have a combined euthanasia rate of over 94%. For thousands of stray and abandoned dogs in the area in which we operate, we are their only hope.
