Hi, I’m Chicken — a sweet and timid little pup rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding case in Manatí, Puerto Rico with over 30 dogs in one home.
Though I’m shy at first, I’m friendly and eager to learn what love feels like. Thanks to The Sato Project, I’m now healthy and ready to start a new life.
I’ll need a patient, understanding home that will give me time and gentle care to feel safe and confident.

About The Sato Project:
The Sato Project has been working hard since 2011 to rescue and rehabilitate the stray dogs of Puerto Rico, known locally as “satos.” To date, we’ve saved over 8,000 dogs and are committed to stopping the overpopulation crisis with spay/neuter and vaccination programs. Your adoption helps us continue this vital work.
The Sato Project is dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned dogs from Puerto Rico. There are currently an estimated 500,000 stray dogs roaming the island’s streets and beaches. With no access to food, fresh water, or veterinary care, many of these dogs are living daily lives of severe suffering. The municipal shelter system is drastically overwhelmed, with only five shelters across all 78 of the island’s municipalities. These shelters have a combined euthanasia rate of over 94%. For thousands of stray and abandoned dogs in the area in which we operate, we are their only hope.

In order to meet our adoptable dogs you need to first complete our Adoption Application which can be found here: http://www.thesatoproject.org/applicationform. We will then get in touch to process your application and set up a virtual meet and greet with our dogs in Puerto Rico. We will then let you know when your Sato will be making their flight to the mainland!
Our adoption fee is $650. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vetted and vaccinated and microchipped.
