Dottie’s journey has been full of challenges, but she’s ready for a bright new beginning. She was rescued by The Sato Project from a horrific hoarding case in Manatí, Puerto Rico, where she lived in a cramped home with over 30 dogs. Despite her difficult past, Dottie has a sweet, gentle, and resilient spirit.
Now healthy and ready for her forever home, Dottie is estimated to be 2–3 years old and weighs 12 lbs. She will be flying to Morristown, NJ on December 28th to meet the loving family who will give her the care, patience, and stability she deserves.
Because of her early experiences, Dottie will thrive in a loving, understanding home where she can feel safe and secure. With kindness and patience, this little girl will blossom into a devoted and affectionate companion.
If you’re ready to make a life-changing difference for a small dog with a big heart, Dottie is waiting to start her new chapter.

About The Sato Project:
The Sato Project has been working hard since 2011 to rescue and rehabilitate the stray dogs of Puerto Rico, known locally as “satos.” To date, we’ve saved over 8,000 dogs and are committed to stopping the overpopulation crisis with spay/neuter and vaccination programs. Your adoption helps us continue this vital work.

Additional adoption info
The Sato Project is dedicated to rescuing abused and abandoned dogs from Puerto Rico. There are currently an estimated 500,000 stray dogs roaming the island’s streets and beaches. With no access to food, fresh water, or veterinary care, many of these dogs are living daily lives of severe suffering. The municipal shelter system is drastically overwhelmed, with only five shelters across all 78 of the island’s municipalities. These shelters have a combined euthanasia rate of over 94%. For thousands of stray and abandoned dogs in the area in which we operate, we are their only hope.
