My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How Rocket arrived:
Rocket was brought in by their previous owner on 11/29/2025

Why this pet is the one for you:
Rocket is a sweet, sensitive little guy who's looking for a calm and understanding home where he can truly shine. He can be a bit nervous, especially with loud noises or quick movements, so a peaceful environment helps him feel safe and confident. Rocket has lived with cats before and reportedly did very well, and he can also enjoy the company of other dogs his size as long as they're gentle and not overly dominant. While he may prefer to keep his favorite items to himself, with patient guidance he continues to learn and grow. Rocket would do best in a home without young children, as he's a bit sensitive about handling and prefers not to be picked up. With the right family who respects his boundaries and appreciates his thoughtful, tender nature, Rocket will make a wonderfully loyal and loving companion.

At SDHS:
Rocket has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Rocket is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
