Hank is a 5-year-old male terrier mix who came to us after being found abandoned on the side of a road. Thankfully, he was rescued right away — this beautiful boy is both deaf and blind, likely since birth, and truly thrives despite it. His spirit is remarkable, and he navigates life with confidence, curiosity, and a whole lot of love.
For the last month, Hank has been living in a foster home, where he has adjusted wonderfully to indoor life. He quickly learned where all his important spots are and gets around with ease. He’s fully potty-trained and crate-trained, and will gently paw at you when he needs to go outside.
Hank is very curious about cats — not in a harmful way, but because he genuinely has no idea what a “cat” is! With guidance and boundaries, he could happily live with a respectful feline friend. He also does well with other dogs, especially calm, older ones who aren’t too in his face. A polite canine companion would suit him perfectly.
His favorite thing in the whole world? Snuggling under blankets right beside his person. Hank doesn’t bark, loves a peaceful environment, and simply wants to be near the people he loves. He is the definition of a loyal, affectionate companion dog.
Hank is looking for a calm, loving home that appreciates how special he truly is. If you’re ready to give a wonderful special-needs pup the care, comfort, and affection he deserves, Hank will repay you with endless devotion.
Hank isn’t just looking for a home — he’s looking for a heart to belong to.

More about this shelter
We are a non-profit organization out of Monticello, IA specializing in the care for dogs and cats that need us. Our care does not stay local, as we take transports from all over the United States, and adopt all over as well!
Our mission's primary focus is to help reduce the homeless pet population by finding homes for spayed/neutered pets, and helping educate WHY this process is so important, and the proper way to care for pets!
