My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I`m a high-profile pet, which means my adoption fee will be different than the standard fees; ask an OK Humane staff member how I`m helping other pets with a different adoption fee!

Meet Peanut — the 12-month-old pup with pure puppy heart!
Don’t let his age fool you—Peanut is all wiggles, wonder, and puppy vibes from head to tail. He’s a curious little guy who loves cuddles, chewing on his toys, and following both humans and dogs around the house like your sweetest shadow.

Peanut is an easy-to-love, easy-to-trust pup who enjoys being close to his people. He lives for cuddle time and is learning to tolerate being picked up. He’s also picking up some great skills—he knows sit, understands “crate,” and has mastered the doggy door!

Like any youngster, Peanut is still working on a few things. He’s practicing potty training and crate training, learning that toys are for chewing (not shoes or fingers!), and discovering that his own reflection isn’t actually a threat. Leash training is also a work in progress.

Peanut has not been tested with cats or small children. Because he can be mouthy, he’d do best in a home without very young kids who might not understand puppy nibbling. He does great with other dogs and enjoys following them around to learn the ropes.

If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, cuddle-loving pup who’s ready to grow and learn with you, Peanut is your guy. He may be 12 months old, but at heart? He’s 100% puppy.

Additional adoption info

Adoption Process
We have an open adoption policy, so there is no application or interview process. We simply ask that you meet the pet in person before adoption. We have adoption specialists that will help you find the right pet for your family.

Adoption Center
The Adoption Center is located at 7500 N. Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Our Adoption Center is a totally new concept in Oklahoma City where dogs have comfortable, expanded kennels and cats stay in “living rooms” with furniture and toys.

Pets by Appointment
Some amazing dogs get stressed out in a kennel environment like our Adoption Center, and much prefer staying at their foster home until they find their new family. If you see a dog on our website that says “E-Mail to Meet Me” that means that this furry friend is just a click away from getting a ride to the Adoption Center to meet you in person.

Adoption Fees
Adult dogs are $150 to adopt, puppies are $200 to adopt, adult cats are $75 to adopt and kittens are $95 to adopt. All of our pets are microchipped, spayed or neutered, treated with all age-appropriate vaccinations and flea, tick, and heartworm preventative prior to being cleared for adoption, so we put a lot of effort and monetary investment into each of our animals including a two-week quarantine period in a foster home. These adoption fees help cover the costs of our animals’ health and well-being!
