My name is Cookie - give me a minute and I'll steal your heart and your home!
I just arrived in Minnesota and love it here so far! I live with my sister and my foster mom and dad, who have said I have the sweetest soul. In the short time I've been here, I'm learning that I'm safe and that there are so many great things to learn in the world!
I'm four months old, and I am all love and energy! I have the cutest face and while I'm mostly black, I have cute brown feet. I'm learning to trust and my cute little behind just shakes as I snuggle up to my foster mom's side. I love to wrestle with my sister - we tug, run and fetch. I have started to learn to use the stairs and I love to run through the new rooms I'm introduced to in the house. Also, I've gotten very good at pottying on puppy pads, and I'll be starting outside potty training soon! I'm pretty smart and I'd love to meet you - insert my heart here.
Cookie is estimated to be 4.5 mos old and weighs about 12 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested.

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.
We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.
This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
