My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bexley & Laken are a tiny, gentle mother–daughter pair looking for a forever family together.

Bexley (9) and her daughter Laken (6) are two small, incredibly sweet doodle mixes whose world changed overnight. Bexley is a 15-lb poodle mix, and Laken is a 20-lb goldendoodle, both perfectly sized for cuddling, companionship, and apartment or home living.

After their beloved mom passed away and their dad was placed in a nursing home, these girls were heartbreakingly abandoned at a high-kill shelter — along with 50 pages of medical records showing the exceptional care they once received. Heartbroken and confused, they clung to each other for comfort, and the shelter reached out for rescue help.

Now safe with us, their gentle personalities are shining through.

Bexley (9 yrs, 15 lb)
A quiet, tender soul who loves softly and deeply. She’s calm, polite, and lets Laken take the spotlight while she stays close by.

Laken (6 yrs, 20 lb)
The more social, attention-loving daughter. Affectionate, sweet, and happiest when snuggled up to her humans.

These two are truly inseparable. When they were briefly separated, both became sad and anxious, even attempting to escape — something they have never done when they’re together. They draw confidence and comfort from each other and must be adopted as a pair.

Bexley and Laken are Very well-behaved, calm, and quiet pups who are great with other dogs.
Curious about cats and respectful, currently living with three dogs and two kitties and have been very good with them.

The girls are fully vetted, spayed, microchipped. They are also Heartworm negative and kept on preventatives.

These two gentle family companions are currently in Houston, Texas, but can travel anywhere in the U.S. — even Canada — for the perfect forever home.
Their adoption fee is $500 total.

Bexley & Laken have known deep love and deep loss. Now they’re ready for a new chapter filled with safety, devotion, and family. If you’re looking for two small, gentle, incredibly sweet companions, these girls are waiting with open hearts.
Yards must be fully fenced to adopt our pups.

Please fill out application at www.savesomesouls.com Yards must be fully fenced, no electric fence accepted.

We will talk to you, your references, and vet, to make sure you and the pet are a good fit for each other.

3.

Meet the Pet

Once your application is approved, you get to meet the pet at our premise or at foster home. Meeting a pet does not guarantee adoption.

4.

Home Check

If the meet goes well, we do a homecheck. In some cases, facetime video works out fine, in some other, we go in person, depending on the dog

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

If approved for adoption, you sign the adoption contract, pay the adoption fee and we send you your new best friend.

6.

Take the Pet Home

Most of our pups are fostered in Texas, and can be transported out of state, for a cost of $250 - $300

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees are $250 - $350 for most dogs. However, breed specific dogs and puppies cost more.

Special needs, & senior dogs may have a reduced fee. See individual dog profile for specific adoption fee.
If you choose one of our pets, please submit an initial adoption application available at www.savesomesouls.com to proceed further. We do not answer inquiries, without application, due to time constraint.

We spay/neuter our animals prior to adoption unless they are under 3 months old, for which we will require a spay/neuter agreement in place, and you will have to make a $150 deposit which will be refunded after we receive the proof of sterilization surgery. Once fixed, we transfer the pup's chip to you.

Out of town adopters must live in a city where we have our volunteers available, and the pet must be returned to us if it does not work out, so you have to hold them till we arrange transport.
Adoption approval is only final after meet and greet and homecheck are complete.
There are often multiple applications filled out for the same animal. In these cases our decision on which applicant adopts the animal is based solely on the best home for that animal after interview, all home visits, meet & greets and reference checks are complete.
If you are not selected to adopt one particular animal, it does not mean you can't adopt from us if your adoption application has been approved. We will work with you to find another animal in our rescue who will be the best fit for your home.

More about this rescue

Our animal rescue section has been organized with very compassionate and dedicated volunteers whose only goal is to save a pet.
Each day hundreds of healthy, adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the kill-shelters of America. In Houston itself, we have the largest population of strays and our shelters are full with strays and abandoned animals including those surrendered by their owners because of reasons such as unwillingness to take care of them, pregnancy, divorce, loss of job, loss of home, prison intake, loss of compassion, empathy, you name it. Add to this, are abandoned pets on the side of the street by owners. Our mission is to give these puppies another chance at love and life. If every person will stop buying from breeders and adopt a shelter pet and spay and neuter them, we will be able to eradicate our euthanasia problem.
