Take the Pet Home
Hi, I’m Deebee (also called Gilly)! I came from a reservation in beautiful northern Minnesota, where I lived outdoors with other dogs and had lots of canine playmates—something I really miss. Moving indoors was scary at first (I wouldn’t even cross the threshold!), but I’ve made great progress. Stairs are still confusing, though.
I was mostly around men before, so I tend to gravitate toward them first, but I like women too—I just need a little time to get used to softer voices. I’m learning basic commands like “come” and “sit,” and I do best with calm guidance since loud noises or raised voices scare me.
I’m fully house-trained as long as I have access outside and do so well that I stay loose in the house on a schedule. I’m a big, strong boy at about 69 pounds. I haven’t been on walks yet, but I’d love an active family who can help me learn. I peacefully ignore the resident cat, though I’d really prefer not to live with small, snarky dogs.
My dream home would have a medium or large dog to play with, a securely fenced yard, and active adults or older kids who enjoy hikes, belly rubs, ear scratches, regular meals, and a warm place to call home. I don’t think that’s too much to wish for.
DeeBee is from a local reservation. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract.
To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page.
If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
