Meet Jemma –Professional Wiggle-Butt & Certified Lap Dog
Jemma is living proof that you can be both a couch potato and a zoomie queen. This soft, squishy sweetheart absolutely believes she is lap-dog sized — and honestly, who are we to correct her? She greets her favorite humans with a full-body wiggle dance that starts at the nose and ends at the tail. When Jemma decides you are her person, your fate is sealed: prepare for snuggles, butt wiggles, and possibly a gentle takeover of your personal space. Jemma is deeply committed to lap time, very treat motivated, and enjoys chasing balls and toys just for the fun of it. She seems dog friendly through the fence and absolutely lights up when she gets to meet new people.
She previously lived in a home and was reported to be housebroken, not destructive, and not an escape artist. She loves car rides, was described as very active, and is friendly with both adults and children, making her a wonderful family companion. Jemma was surrendered when a child in the home developed allergies, but she has not let that dim her loving personality one bit. She is ready to bring her wiggle dance, soft snuggles, and joyful energy into a new forever home!

All shelter locations are conducting animal viewing and adoptions on a first come, first serve basis. We are not able to move a pet from one location to another for your viewing.
The adoption fee is waived for all available pets in care and in foster homes. Standard adoption practices will still be in place, including background checks.

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department (AWD) expanded the shelter days of service to seven days a week with operational hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and pet viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m for both the east and west side shelter locations.
