My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Burton is an outgoing, confident, and delightfully goofy boy with a big personality to match his big heart. This strong, playful kid loves to stay busy and isn’t shy about asking for attention. He’ll happily move from person to person leaning in for pets, love, and affection. After a good play session (and yes, some drool), Burton is perfectly content sitting next to his favorite human on the couch.

He enjoys playtime and does especially well with durable rubber toys, balls, and tug toys. While he’ll play with soft toys, he prefers sturdier options and can also self-entertain when needed. Burton is playful, social, and enjoys sharing his toys with people.

Burton already knows sit and shake, and he’s continuing to learn polite manners, including being more gentle when taking treats and toys. He is very playful with other dogs and may do well with the right dog friend following proper introductions. With continued training, Burton may also have potential to live with confident cats.

Due to his enthusiastic and mouthy play style, Burton would do best in a home with children ages 12 and up. He’s an overall silly, fun-loving boy who will thrive in a home ready to keep him engaged, continue his training, and enjoy his affectionate, playful nature.

Burton is ready to bring joy, laughs, and lots of love to his future family!

Dog Adoptions: $200
Cat Adoptions: $100

Please take a moment to review our Adoption Policy prior to applying to adopt a pet.

CHS accepts multiple applications on each animal, we are not first come first serve. Our team of adoption counselors will help matchmake every individual pet and family to ensure the best fit for all.

Must be 21 to adopt with a valid driver's license or state ID card.

We ask all members of the household to meet the new pet, some pets require multiple visits to build necessary relationships.

To align with our mission of solving the homeless pet crisis, all household pets must be spayed and neutered, up to date on necessary vaccinations, and live in the same household as the adopter. If not currently established with a veterinarian, a vet deposit will be required.

Cats and dogs adopted from CHS are indoor only.

Every pet is an individual, and many have individual needs such as : post adoption training (included with adoption), multiple meet and greets to feel comfortable, medical needs, etc. Our adoption counselors will communicate these needs with all interested families.

CHS will not begin adoption process with an individual when:

A person is reasonably believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Landlord or residence does not allow pets, or the living situation does not accommodate consistency for the pet (e.g. student housing, four unrelated adults living together, ect.)

Applications may be denied for any reason, including but not limited to an individual failing to comply with conditions of past adoption.
