My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

With chocolatey brown fluffy fur, floppy ears, and a pointy snout that is frosted to perfection, Elfman will find his way to your heart! This dapper gentleman is a long-haired dachshund who just wants a forever home to while away his golden years dozing on a couch and being spoiled with treats and snuggles. He gets overwhelmed in a crowd, so our dear Elfman would love to be the sole object of your attention, an easy trade because he’s got enough love to give for at least four dogs (he keeps the extra in his hair). If you’re just looking for a sweet old senior to keep you company and spend his days napping beside you, Elfman is the perfect pick!

Here's some notes from his foster:

This little gentleman could be teaching doggie etiquette courses - his manners are impeccable. He is a very sweet and quiet boy who is supremely content just sniffing around outside and sleeping in the sun. He’s good about baths and brushing, he takes his medications without complaint, and he wouldn’t dream of asking for his breakfast before responsibly doing his business outside. I hope our family dog is taking some notes!

Elfman gets along with our family dog, but is a little protective about his food bowl. He didn’t want to share a bed when he first arrived, but he now climbs right into bed for snuggles with his buddy. He doesn’t seem to have any interest in playing with toys or other dogs. He does startle with loud noises, and crowd situations stress him out. Relatable introvert stuff, honestly!

Elfman loves a good neck massage and likes to get pets in your lap, but he isn’t needy and is also happy to be curled up in his bed. He is a shy guy but warms right up after a couple of days! He loves being outdoors - perhaps not a surprise given that he looks like a miniature coyote. An extra bonus? Very few teeth = the cleanest breath I’ve ever smelled from a dog!

He is fine with our dog-experienced kids, but probably wishes they didn’t have so many friends over all the time! He loves to chill out to Minecraft music though.
