Roo (“Mama Roo”) will at first appear skittish and shy, but after a few days of adjusting you will meet the sweetest soul: a cat just looking to find a person that she can trust and love with her whole heart.
Mama Roo has had a lot of upheaval in her life lately. She was found a day away from giving birth, then had to raise five rambunctious kittens while getting used to this whole “living indoors” situation. She’s very much enjoying her transition into being an indoor cat, though, and especially since her kittens were adopted she’s really come into her own. She’s looking for a soft place to land with a person (or two!) to call her very own.
While we’ll never know about Roo’s early life, we know that she’s most comfortable around women, and would do best with someone knowledgeable about cat behavior (or willing to learn!) She’s done so well with patience, and humans who understand that sometimes things can be overwhelming: she would love to continue that work with you.
Once you break through her initial skepticism, she’s an absolute lover girl: purring so loud it’s almost as if she’s purring in two octaves at once; leaning up against your leg when you’re sitting down; and, if she doesn’t feel like you’re petting her enough for her liking, even grabbing your hand in her paw and smushing her little face all over you until you get the hint.
Incredibly gentle, Mama Roo has never hissed, scratched, or bit – even during the stressful adjustment periods. She will need some space to decompress in your home, but as a former street cat she knows the value of food, and will soon come to trust whoever feeds her and spends quiet, low-pressure time with her.
If you’re looking for a cat to build a deep loving connection with, and willing to work with her to get there, Mama Roo might be the cat for you!
PS - Don’t forget that charming cow patterned fur, and her big cow eyes. What a beauty!
All our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, FVRCP vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped.
All of our kittens must go to homes where they will remain inside 24/7.
We'd love to schedule a meet & greet with you and the kittens! If you're interested in adopting, please visit our website and fill out an application: https://toniskittyrescue.org/adoption-application

Toni, our founder, started fostering underage kittens that came into the local municipal shelter in 2000. By 2003 she had a network of foster parents and was saving many little lives so she became a non-profit. As of 2023 we are no longer with the shelter and are on our own. We have only one part-time employee and a dedicated group of fosters. All our kittens are vaccinated and spayed/neutered and receive all necessary medical care while in our care. We taken in strays from our partner trappers and from high-kill and over-crowded shelters, specializing in neo-nates and kittens under 6 weeks.
