My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Note: Currently Mongmong is in Korea, but she will fly to LA once adopted.

Background
Mongmong was once kept as a guard dog and tied outside on farmland for most of her life. It took time and patience, but her owner finally agreed to surrender her. She is now safe and living with other dogs at our partner boarding house, where she is learning what it feels like to be cared for.

Personality and Socialization
Mongmong has a soft, balanced personality and a moderate energy level. She has a gentle and loving heart and always greets people with a wagging tail. She was never meant to be a guard dog as she naturally trusts and welcomes people, even strangers, and is very affectionate and sweet.

She enjoys being around other dogs and likes to play with friendly dogs similar to her size. If another dog is too loud or overwhelming, she quietly removes herself and looks for a peaceful space. She is friendly, palyful and also very affectionate.

Behaviours
Mongmong is gentle and well mannered in daily life. She handles a carride, bath time without fuss, and does well at the vet. She enjoys going for walks and follows her human well. She has not shown signs of separation anxiety or destructive behavior.

Health and Diet
Mongmong is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. She has been dewormed and receives monthly parasite prevention. She eats dry food twice a day and has not shown any food sensitivities.

Ideal Home
She would be a wonderful match for many homes, whether a first time adopter or a family looking for a second dog. Her ideal home is one where someone is home often, such as working from home or being retired, as she loves human company and feels most comfortable when not left alone for long hours. Mongmong is kind, loyal, and easy to love. She will make a beautiful companion for the lucky family that welcomes her into their home.

More about this rescue

Free Korean Dogs is a registered charity founded in 2015 with the mission to rescue, rehabilitate and find forever-loving homes for dogs saved from the Korean dog meat trade.

We divide our mission across three basic pillars: rescue, adopt, and engage. Since 2015, we’ve made huge advances in all three areas, shutting down three dog meat farm operations, facilitating the adoption of 1,800 rescue dogs, and launching Freedom Walk, our annual event to raise public awareness about the Korean dog meat trade:

RESCUE
Our organization has made significant strides in rescuing dogs from the dog meat trade, high-kill shelters and other high-risk conditions in Korea. We shut down dog meat farms and liberated over 500 dogs from unbearable suffering and despair.

ADOPT
Through our unwavering commitment, we have found forever-loving homes for more than 1,800 dogs rescued from brutal circumstances. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to rehabilitate these animals and find them a new life filled with love and care.

ENGAGE
Our mission extends beyond rescue and adoption; we are dedicated to building a compassionate community. Through educational campaigns and events, we engage with individuals and organizations to create a cultural shift from cruelty to compassion.
