My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Note: Bambi is currently in a foster home in Toronto and is ready to meet her forever family.

Background
Bambi and her sister were rescued from a city pound in Milyang, Korea earlier this summer. She lived in a boarding facility with other dogs until she left Korea. Currently, she is in Toronto living with cats and dogs waiting for her forever family.

Personality & Socialization
Bambi may be a bit timid at first, but once she feels secure, she reveals her gentle and affectionate nature. She is calm, sweet, and very loving. Bambi gets along best with mellow, friendly dogs, and can feel unsure around more dominant or high-energy pups.

Behaviour
Bambi has been easygoing. However, she doesn’t like to be picked up suddenly, as it can startle her, and she gets scared when receiving shots at the vet. While she is still gaining confidence on a leash, she happily follows her human once trust is established. Above all, she loves being near her people and finds comfort in their company.

Health & Diet
Bambi is spayed, fully vaccinated, dewormed, and receives monthly parasite prevention. She is healthy and ready to meet her forever family. She enjoys her kibble twice a day and has no known allergies.

Ideal Home
Bambi would thrive in a peaceful, patient home where she can build confidence at her own pace. A home with another gentle dog would be ideal. Previous experience with dogs is a plus, but most importantly, Bambi needs a caring, consistent family who will love and cherish her.

More about this rescue

Free Korean Dogs is a registered charity founded in 2015 with the mission to rescue, rehabilitate and find forever-loving homes for dogs saved from the Korean dog meat trade.

We divide our mission across three basic pillars: rescue, adopt, and engage. Since 2015, we’ve made huge advances in all three areas, shutting down three dog meat farm operations, facilitating the adoption of 1,800 rescue dogs, and launching Freedom Walk, our annual event to raise public awareness about the Korean dog meat trade:

RESCUE
Our organization has made significant strides in rescuing dogs from the dog meat trade, high-kill shelters and other high-risk conditions in Korea. We shut down dog meat farms and liberated over 500 dogs from unbearable suffering and despair.

ADOPT
Through our unwavering commitment, we have found forever-loving homes for more than 1,800 dogs rescued from brutal circumstances. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to rehabilitate these animals and find them a new life filled with love and care.

ENGAGE
Our mission extends beyond rescue and adoption; we are dedicated to building a compassionate community. Through educational campaigns and events, we engage with individuals and organizations to create a cultural shift from cruelty to compassion.
