My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello world, Miss Five here! Yes, Five, like the number. No, I can’t count, but I am house trained, crate trained (although I might politely complain just a wee bit when I first go in), and I know “sit” because, well… I’m smart like that. And also because treats exist…and I love them! Speaking of, I’m extremely food motivated and would probably even learn algebra for a handful of kibble! Back to counting, they say I'm 2 years old and 43 pounds.. whatever that means! I probably need to gain a few pounds to be healthy and help my hair grown back in nicely.

At night, I love sleeping right next to my person, and my favorite thing in the world is cuddling with my head in someone’s lap. I may be a little shy to meet you at first (I call this my “mysterious stranger” phase), but once I warm up, I become your loyal shadow and biggest fan. Outside, I run like an undiscovered agility champion who can turn on a dime…maybe even a nickel. Squirrels and outdoor cats fascinate me, but inside I’ve adjusted to the house cats who hang out behind a baby gate, and I no longer feel the need to monitor their every move. Slow, structured introductions to new cats would be best since I do have quite a bit of a prey drive. My breed makes me athletic and entergetic and also very smart!!

Soooo I don’t know what happened in my past, but getting into the car is very scary for me. However, once I’m in, I settle in fine. It would be best if I had someone patient and willing to work with me to help me build confidence around cars. However, I’m great with kids, love other dogs, and am “open-minded but cautious” about cats. If you want a sweet, loyal companion who will adore you, learn your routines, snuggle like a pro, and occasionally show off some impressive moves, I’m your girl! Oh…and did you notice how incredibly cute I am! Please apply to meet me before someone else realizes how awesome I am! Their adoption process

Submit Application

Submitting an application is always our first step - it's free to apply! bcaaofnj.org

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.
