December 9, 2025 Cassandra (Cass) is a spayed female, about 9 years old, and weighs 30 pounds. She walks very well on a leash. S he is a brave explorer and protector of her sister, Polly, with whom she shares a room at the Shelter. She would be okay with other dogs with proper introduction. Cass loves walks, sniffing around, and seeing everything she can. She is her happiest in the great outdoors. She hunts like a daschund and would always protect you from lizards and small creatures. She has not been cat tested.
Cass has some fear of strangers and puts up a protective front, but for those who have the patience to earn her trust she is a loyal friend. Cass needs a home with experience with dogs who take longer to warm up. She needs and is looking for someone with the kindness and willingness to help this girl move from shelter to life to what it means to have the love of a family. Could that person be you?
Cass is cared for at the Shelter with a walk and feeding both in the morning and the afternoon. Because of her limited potty breaks, she does not "hold it" between the afternoon walk and the next day's morning walk. We believe that with proper potty breaks or access to a backyard, she would be quickly housebroken.
