My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bill.  Bill and his brother Quill came to us after they got into a tussle with a porcupine. They had many quills that had to be removed. It is possible that some quills were not found in surgery and may migrate and need to be removed later. Bill has needed to have a few more additional surgeries to continue to remove quills that have popped up. He is doing well.

Bill LOVES people!  He wants nothing more than to be with people and get attention all day long. He does great with children too. We were told he lived in a home previously with other dogs, but we would need to do proper introductions with other dogs in the home.

Quill and his brother Bill we estimate to be about a year old. We are not requiring adopting out Quill and Bill together-they do love each other, but they are a lot of dog together. They are young and still have a lot of energy.

We do not know their breed makeup but suspect some type of hound.

An approved adoption application is required. The $275 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; heartworm and tick disease testing; fecal w/ giardia testing, monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention . Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.

More about this rescue

Headin' Home Pet Rescue Inc. is a volunteer run organization, After placing adoptable dogs and cats into homes through Mapleview Animal Hospital since 1994, Dr. Jim decided that it made more sense to begin a rescue group separate from the hospital. The 501(c)3 status was granted in 2008 and the rescue received a name: Headin' Home Pet Rescue.
