My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Coco! Are you ready to welcome a charming companion into your home? Coco is a sweetheart who thrives once she's had a moment to decompress and get to know you. She is looking for an experienced adult-only home where she can be the center of attention and shower her people with affection.

This little lady is looking for a serene environment to truly shine. She is quiet, snuggly, and housebroken with regular potty breaks. Her perfect day would certainly end curled up in bed right next to you!

She has mastered sit and stay and will make you laugh as she chases her own tail. She also looks dapper in a little coat! A favorite activity is simply looking out the window, keeping watch over the world from the safety of her home. She would prefer to be the only dog in her new home, though she may get along with another sedate dog. We do not know how she is around cats.

Coco needs a patient, adult-only family (18+) ready to give her lots of love and attention. While she does require decompression time to meet new people, the reward is a loyal and affectionate companion. She is not a candidate for long walks or hiking so a fenced-in back yard would be wonderful. She appreciates being left alone to enjoy her meals, and can get snappy around food, so a home that respects her boundaries is a must. She is non-destructive when left alone for a few hours, making her a wonderful companion for a low-key lifestyle.

HEALTH

Coco is up to date on vaccinations and will be spayed soon.

HISTORY

Coco came into IAR from a local shelter.

PHYSICAL

Coco is a beauty, with silky cream and tan fur, and an adorable face. She will need periodic grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best.

  • You may not be an undergraduate student.

  • You must be a US citizen or green card holder.

Adoption Process

  • Fill out an adoption interest application HERE.

  • Our goal is finding lifelong, loving homes for our animals, so we try to find the best match between animal and adopter. We can help advise you on which animals to meet based on your situation.

  • You can meet some of our animals at our weekend adoption events, or we can arrange for a meeting in the foster home. If it’s a good match, the foster parent will come to visit your home in person. This is to make sure your home is safe and secure for a new companion animal.

  • Note: IAR makes every effort to please our adopters, but our first concern must be for the animal’s welfare. We reserve the right to deny any application.

More about this rescue

IAR started with one woman's big dreams, a bigger heart, and a very distinctive purple pickup truck that helped her rescue countless of unwanted, abused, and homeless Triangle pets. Originally founded in 1994, IAR earned an official 501(c)(3) status in 1995. We are governed by a Board of Directors, managed by elected officers, and introduced IAR’s first paid position, General Manager, in June 2021. This role will assist with elevating our collective compassion to new heights and strengthening IAR’s impact as a whole.

Our mission is to rescue and provide safe and responsible care for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals. We shall strive to help all animals in need through our service programs. We will serve our communities through promotion of spay/neuter for all companion animals, and the education of children and adults in humane care, respect and responsibility for animals on this earth.
