My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by their previous owner.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Penny is a calm, loving girl who has been returned through no fault of her own and is so ready for her true forever home. She's wonderful with kids, cats, and other dogs-gentle with little ones, friendly and submissive with dogs, and a total cat admirer. In her foster home, Penny has really opened up. She's cuddly, affectionate, and loves belly rubs, carrots, and snuggling in bed. She knows sit and paw, is fully housetrained, and settles calmly when left alone. Penny matches the energy of the home-happy to go for walks, but just as happy to relax by your side. She can have some mild ear and paw sensitivity, especially when stressed, but she handles care well with a gentle touch. Penny is a soft, sweet soul who wants nothing more than a loving family to call her own. If you're looking for an easygoing, affectionate companion, Penny is ready to brighten your home.

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
