**Sonny was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. He will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. He will be crate trained, learn manners and he will learn lots of tricks as well! Sonny is a happy boy, desperate for human affection. He came from a home of 11 dogs that were not being fed or given attention and that is why he desires affection. Sonny gets excited and hyper when people first approach, but he calms down and enjoys the attention once he starts getting it. Sonny gets along with other dogs and would be fine with kids. He is house-trained and we are working on leash training. Sonny will make a great addition to any home that will welcome and spoil him, like he deserves. We charge a $150 adoption fee for shelter dogs, $200 for Paws in Prison trained dogs, and $75 for cats. To make application to adopt a pet you will need to go to our website schspets.org and complete an online application and someone will call you to discuss adoption process and to make an appointment to visit our shelter and cat cottage.

Our shelter is located at 17379 Highway 9 South in Mountain View, AR 72560. We are open M-Sat., from 2:00 to 5:00 and mornings by appointment only by calling 870-269-5200.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
