My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Totoro!

Totoro is a sweet young cat who is still a bit unsure of the world but remains quite curious. She takes a little while to get used to her surroundings, but once she has, she comes right up to you to say hi. Her big, expressive eyes will draw you in, and her sweet nature will make you fall in love with her.

She is very affectionate once she's comfortable in her environment. She will happily rub against you and enjoy receiving pets.

Totoro is a quiet, gentle cat who has lived with other cats, dogs, and children. She would likely do well living with any of the above with a proper, slow introduction.

Come by and meet Totoro in person at the West Vancouver location. Our adoption hours are 12-3 pm, Tuesdays through Sundays (closed Mondays).

Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
