My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Kona was brought in by her previous owner on December 6, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Kona! This gorgeous brindle girl is as sweet and loyal as they come. She's been a bit fearful in our care, but with slow introductions and patience, her warm, affectionate side truly shines. Once she feels safe, Kona is the kind of pup who loves soaking up pets, riding shotgun on car adventures, and enjoying a breezy day at the beach. Kona is both crate trained and potty trained, giving her a great head start in her new home. She has done well with other dogs out and about, but she prefers not to share her favorite people - so she's looking to be the only dog in the home. Any kids in the household will need to meet her ahead of time to ensure it's a great fit for everyone. If you're looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little time to blossom, Kona may be your perfect match.

At SDHS:
Kona has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Kona is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
