My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Kayden was brought in by our Humane Law Enforcement team on October 11, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Kayden! This lovely senior gal has plenty of love to give and is looking for a calm place to spend her golden years. We're still getting to know her, but one thing is clear - Kayden has a gentle spirit and just needs a little time to feel comfortable with new people and situations. She arrived underweight, and we're helping her get back on track! Kayden can be particular about how she's handled, so a patient family with children 10 and older would be ideal. We're not yet sure how she feels about other dogs, cats, or whether she's potty trained. What we do know is that Kayden will thrive in a quiet, low-traffic home where her world can stay small as she decompresses at her own pace. She's a sweet soul who deserves comfort, kindness, and a soft spot to land. Think you could be her perfect match? Bring a leash and collar and come meet Kayden today!

At SDHS:
Kayden has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. She is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
